BS Celtic had the unusual tag of being classed as the away side as we took on Abbotts at British Sugar Sports and Social Club.
The opening stages were fairly even, with neither side creating many chances, although Celtic looked the more threatening side going forward.
The deadlock was broken midway through the first half when Lee Sayer robbed the ball from the home ‘keeper and slotted into the net.
The score stayed the same heading into the break, but Celtic took control after the interval and it was Sayer who again found the back of the net, when he broke through the Abbotts defence and slotted into the net with ease.
The two goal cushion gave Celtic the chance to be creative and central defender and captain Ross Burch pushed forward and found the net with a close range header to put Celtic in total control.
Darren Rolfe urged his team to attack the home side, and amazingly it was defender Burch who again found the net with a great header that flew into the top corner, prompting the manager to substitute his captain in his moment of glory!
Celtic made it 5-0 in the closing stages when Lee Sayer burst through on goal, only to be clipped by the oncoming ‘keeper, and it was Sayer who scored the resulting penalty to complete his hat-trick and an comfortable result for the Green and Whites, who remain the only unbeaten side in the Division.
Celtic welcome Chedburgh to British Sugar on Sunday 17th February, looking to complete the double over the village side after a recent 5-1 win at the Erskine Centre.
